Adoption procedure

Before you start please take the time to read our Adoption FAQ.

If you a first time pet owner or are looking to update your knowledge we advise that you study the RSPCA pet care guides before taking a pet home.

Cat Adoption

Most of the cats available for adoption are here at the Animal Centre and the following procedure applies:

Dog Adoption

From 24th July, we will be changing our dog viewing procedure. We will be using an appointment based system for meet and greets in order to help the staff to better organise their workload and offer better customer service.

Anyone without internet access or who would just like to pop in still can, but may face a wait of up to 45 minutes. We have to put the needs of our resident animals first and so instead of interrupting their daily socialisation and exercise, you will need to wait for someone to be free.

If you are in a hurry, you could nip in and fill in a questionnaire and look at the dogs we have available and then make an appointment to come back another day for a meet and greet.

Please note:

Please note:

Since 1st March 2015, we no longer alllow members of the public access to our kennel area
There has been much study done into the welfare of kennelled dogs within a rescue environment and it has been found that a constant stream of new faces causes unnecessary stress and upset for our residents.  As recent visitors will be aware, many of our more shy and nervous dogs are already in a quiet area away from public view and this small change will now mean all our dogs get the same benefit.  Anyone wishing to adopt a dog from us will be able to browse the website or a folder with coloured posters and information and a member of our kennel team will come and spend time with you and recommend suitable dogs based on your needs and our dogs assessment recommendations.  This will hopefully mean a happier group of dogs for us and a more personalised experience for you.

Our cattery will remain open for viewing as usual - there will be no change at all to our current cat viewing and adoption procedure.
We are making these changes to ensure we are making our dogs as happy and comfortable as possible whilst they wait for new homes.  We thank you for your understanding with this matter.

Animals in Foster Homes

For the few animals that we are looking to rehome from foster homes, the following procedure applies.
