Poor Power came to us after being found straying in a right old state with a poorly eye and a large wound by his ear. He obviously had no one to care for him and he must have been living rough for a good while. Goodness knows what he has been through, he was so scared when he first came to us that he would hide underneath his blankets and press his head to the floor so you couldn`t see his face.
He has never shown any aggression but when worried, this poor lad actually used to curl up in a ball like a hedgehog to avoid contact. He has been with us for a few months now and the difference is wonderful to see. Although still a very shy and nervous boy, he is much, much happier.
The fantastic cattery staff have spent time with him daily, initially just popping into his pen numerous times per day just to leave him a little something delicious to show him that humans aren`t all bad. Building up then to spending time with him, chatting and then gently stroking him once he was happy and instigated contact.
Power is really a total sweetie, he so wants to explore and interact with you and he does love spending time with his favourite people but always at his safe distance and in a way where he feels comfortable. He may never be a confident lap cat but we owe it to him to try and find him a home where he can relax, be happy and enjoy his life - loved and cared for.
Handsome Power has FIV - Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (a condition which affects the immune system of a cat, like HIV in humans) and for this reason, he is looking to live an indoor only lifestyle, where he can be the only cat in the household. He needs an experienced home with adults and older teens. There is no reason why he can`t live just as happy a life as a normal cat, he will just need to be closely monitored and have regular check ups so he can be kept as healthy as possible.
Power will need much love and support and time to settle into his new home but he so deserves it. Could you offer him a bright and happy future?
