Can you help us by donating to our new lawnmower appeal.
One of our volunteers Peter Thompson who with the help of other volunteers has been very busy during the past 6 months gardening at our Stadium Way premises. As you may or may not know we have a very large garden area and a lot of grass to maintain. Stadium Way is quite a green Oasis in Attercliffe and we are trying to garden in an environmentally way to encourage wildlife and birds to the area. Bird boxes and tables have been erected and a number of species have been seen including greenfinch, sparrow, chaffinch, collared doves, wood pigeon and others. Foxes and rabbits have also been seen in the grounds. We hope to have a wildlife Memorial Garden completed next year.
We need to maintain our large grassland area to provide a good walking area for the dogs in our care and to set up a dog agility course to stimulate the dogs. Although we are the RSPCA we do not have a goat or even any sheep to help us! During the past few months we have been trying to maintain the grass with a small mower which is really totally inadequate for our needs. It is Pete’s dream to purchase a ride on mower to make grass cutting much easier. We have identified a mower which would answer his dream (please see the attached picture) and Gunsons Repair Services Ltd of Owlerton Sheffield have generously agreed to let us have a mower at cost price for which we are really grateful.
We need to raise around £1200 and are trying to raise this through the winter months when the mower is not needed. A raffle and fund-raising party have already been arranged to start the appeal.
